Webtv Takeover

My newest addiction is webtv. Searching for funny videos on youtube has helped me discover that the 2008 winner of Last Comic Standing is hilarious. I never got into that show, but I got myself caught up with the Iliza episodes. You gotta check out her "Candy" skits on youtube. Iliza Shlesinger is only 25 years old, but definitely has a gift when it comes to comedy. Not only did she win the show, she's also the first female to ever win LCS.

There's also a show called "Sorority Forever" on the wb, now known as the cw. SF is about a 8 girls who are chosen to be in the Phi Chi sorority. But what they don't know is the secrets and lies the Sorority and other former "sisters" carry. There's tons of drama, but it's nothing like a soap opera. It reminds me of Beverly Hills 90210 except it's all about sorority life. Jessica Rose aka Lonelygirl15 stars as Julie, the girl who's in the sorority because that's the only way her mother would pay for college. I think she's also the one who discovers the secrets of the sorority house. I've seen 20 episodes of the show and that's what it looks like. It might sound like a lot of shows to watch, but it would only be into its 2nd episode if it were a "real show". Jessica Rose also stars in another webtv show called, "Hooking Up" alongside Deanna Casaluce aka Alex from Degrassi: The Next Generation. Deanna portrayed the bad girl of Degrassi and ex-gf of Paige and Jay. It seems as though webtv is all the rage these days. Personally I can't get enough of it. I'm always looking for new episodes of webshows. Don't get me wrong I still watch regular tv, because I can't get enough of One Tree Hill, Supernatural, Gossip Girl, Criss Angel: Mindfreak and of course Degrassi.

But it makes me wonder if webtv is going to take over real tv someday. Imagine a world where everything is only available online. In a way, we're almost there. Everything we need or want is available at our fingertips. I keep thinking that someday newspapers are going to be gone forever and that my future career in Journalism will be a bust. I don't know what I'd do if that happened, except that I'd write for a magazine instead. That is my goal in life. I just hope it happens sooner, rather than later .
